QUESTIONS ABOUT FLOATING?
BELOW ARE SOME OF THE MOST COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW LONG HAVE FLOAT TANKS BEEN AROUND?
The first tanks were developed in 1954, but the first lay down tanks were invented in the early 70's.
IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD DO TO PREPARE?
+ Don't drink coffee several hours before floating. Caffeine can make you jittery and that is the opposite effect of what you are trying to achieve in the tank.
+ Don't shave or wax at least 12 hours before floating since the salt water can irritate skin.
+ Eat a light meal 1 - 2 hours before floating. Floating on a full stomach isn't great, but neither is floating on an empty one.
CAN I FLOAT IF I JUST DYED MY HAIR?
There is no guarantee that the salt water won't strip color from hair, so we recommend waiting four to five weeks after a fresh color to float. In some cases dyes can bleed out due to the heavy concentration of salt. If you still have concerns consult with your hair stylist.
CAN I FLOAT IF I JUST GOT A TATTOO?
No! Not only can it be painful, but the water solution could cause fading or discoloration. Tattoo artists suggest waiting four to six weeks after your tattoo to float.
CAN PREGNANT WOMEN FLOAT?
Floating is great for pregnant women, however if you are in your first trimester or have any complications we recommend consulting your physician first.
WILL I GET DEHYDRATED FROM SOAKING FOR SO LONG?
Floating doesn't dry out your skin, in fact skin becomes silky smooth/soft afterwards.
CAN MORE THAN ONE PERSON FLOAT AT A TIME?
Our tanks are designed for only one person to float at a time.
HOW DO YOU CLEAN THE TANKS?
In between each float, water from the tanks is filtered multiple times through a 1-10 micron filter, as well as a hair filter. It is also treated with UV light, and ozone while the pump is running and filtering. Besides all of this the 30% Epsom salt along with Hydrogen Peroxide in the water aids in keeping the water fresh. The tanks themselves are wiped out daily and deep cleans are performed regularly as well
DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?
You can bring a comb/brush for longer hair, and also something to place contacts in if you wear them, but we supply everything else that you will need.
